HeptaMillenia
Population: 9,728,400

This is the newest (and currently latest) city I built with high population in mind. It has some new and old tricks up its sleeves.

Sure, I had put together a city whose population I would never be able to top (DecaMillenia), but with no roads or support zones, it would quickly die when taken off pause. My last stable city, built with SCURK, ran fine but didn't employ any of the tricks I used in previous cities.

So I came up with a city that would use all the tricks in the book, but at the same time, would run without decline when taken off pause. Here's the strategies:

    Magic Eraser

    • The city would use the magic eraser to erase the arcologies and allow me to build over them, keeping their populations.
    • Similar to DecaMillenia, the city would use the magic eraser to compress the 3x3 zones, overlapping them to allow more to be built.

    7xX Architecture

    • Because the magic eraser was used to compress zones in this city, it was possible to use a larger road layout- 7xX zoning instead of 6xX zoning. This method uses less roads, but each zone is still at least 3 tiles away from a road since the zone in front of it has been shortened.

The zone map above appears similar to previous cities in this category, but looking closely you'll see that the roads are a bit further apart. This city uses the same watering technique as past cities as well, although more pumps had to be built since there were more zones to water in the grid.
