Creating an archipelago #0940

Think a city on a miniature island with a river down the middle on hard mode is difficult? Try a miniature archipelago on hard mode. This is how you create one with the SimCity 3000 random map generator:

Start a new city. When you get to the step that lets you make a random map, turn the coast on all the way around the map as if you were making an island. Change the center to a lake. Finally, move the water slider 3/4 of the way up (I recommend that you move it up no more than that since the islands become too tiny to do anything with). Slide it down a notch or two if you want bigger islands. You may have to click Generate more than once since it doesn't always give you a big enough island to start your city on. I recommend that you get rid of hills altogether since the area that you can build on tends to be pathetically small anyway.

By the way, you can often find fresh water close to the center of the map.
