Highway interchange: cloverleaf #0749
Updated: 7/1/01 OS/platforms(s): All Versions: All

Contributor/author(s): Cody Goodman

You can build an interchange that will allow for a more complete flow from one highway to another in your city.

Normally, you would build the two highways and connect them with on-ramps. But if you wanted to go from southbound on one highway to eastbound on another, you would have to go to the next interchange with a road, turn around and go northbound on that same highway, and take the eastbound ramp to the other highway. This takes too long if you were commuting on that highway. With this interchange, you get on the other highway and travel in any direction, allowing better flow of traffic on your highway system. The interchange is called a cloverleaf, and it looks something like this:

Cloverleaf

This design is made by building two highways together into a + intersection like you usually do, and then build a highway that loops around the intersection and connect all of the highways together with on-ramps like you connect the two through highways(the ones you started with that intersect like a + ) together. What results is a realistic interchange that can be found in many places in the US.
